Description: A block paradigm mapping the sentence error detection contrasts between four conditions: rest, syntactic error, semantic error and no error. Visual stimulus of a speaker is presented. The rest condition is a still frame of the speaker. The semantic and syntactic error conditions have the speaker present a sentence with the respective error. The no error condition presents a correct sentence. The subject is prompted to judge whether the sentence is correct (a happy face) or incorrect (a silly face) via a button push. The paradigm is presented in two “sets”. Each begins with a 40 sec. rest period followed by three blocks of conditions. Each block has five, 7 sec. stimulus each: 3.5 sec. of stimulus, 3.5 sec. of response. Each block has a single stimulus not matching the condition to avoid predictability artifact. This results in 290 sec. of scanning and 145 volumes at a TR of 2 sec. Behavioral data is used for additional analysis.
